Healthcare providers have been given an extension to transition their billing systems. Instead of October 1, 2013, the new date is October 2014.
Anyone familiar with the coding system best known as “ICD-10” – International Classification of Disease 10 is coping with massive implementation.
The Long Island Business News recently featured an article titled, “Anxiety Growing Over ICD-10 System Switch” It detailed how the North Shore-LIJ Health System expects to spend $20 – $30 million on ICD-10 consultants, software and other preparations for their compliance practices and billing systems. They expect to hire 300 – 400 additional full-time and consultants related to ICD-10 requirements, “half of which are likely to remain permanent employees,” according to John Bosco, NSLIJ CIO, who also noted that the System has already bolstered staff through placements firms. Mr. Bosco specifically mentioned LLoyd Staffing as one of only three firms they reach out to for these highly specialized needs.
The LLoydIT team is now hearing from many other hospitals and health systems across the nation who are similarly looking for general and clinical technology professionals who are able to fill specialized IT direct hire and consulting needs. LLoydIT is headed up by Jeanine Bondi, CSP, VP, Sr. Managing Director, who is open to partnering with CIOs on their unique staffing challenges to cope with the ICD-10 mandates.
