Lloyd’s EVP, Jason Banks, will tell you the foundation of Lloyd’s Placements with a Purpose program was his mother, Diane Banks. “Almost 9 years ago we lost the BEST MOM!” he says, “We didn’t lose her through diabetes alone, but it was a disease we saw her battle throughout her life.”
That was when Jason and his brother, Lloyd’s President, Keith Banks, decided they needed to do something meaningful in her memory. Since then, the Banks family and the Lloyd corporate family, have invested time and resources to help children and others who live with Type 1 diabetes. Lloyd’s Placements with a Purpose program (PWP) makes donations to JDRF (originally known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) for each hire the firm makes and for each temporary associate billed out on a client assignment.
This year both Lloyd and JDRF are having their 50th anniversaries since their original launch. There’s been much to celebrate through the years and many advancements – but a cure to turn TypeONE to TypeNONE is not yet here.
“Social responsibility has always been a part of the Lloyd mission and culture” notes Keith Banks, “While we still contribute to many different community causes, JDRF is a major focus for us. We know that our clients appreciate that when they do business with us, we are helping to do something good with their investment in our services.”
The past year living with all the challenges of the pandemic brought a new awareness to wellness across our personal and professional lives. “Workforce wellness drives engagement and that impacts productivity and morale” says Jason Banks, who is serving on the 2021 Membership Committee of JDRF’s annual golf classic, Tee Up to Cure Diabetes. “Now that some level of normalcy has returned to our lives, the opportunity to play, interact and compete with friends and colleagues in the fresh air is something we are grateful for.” Banks is hoping that some Lloyd clients and talent will participate in a golf package or sponsorship opportunity for the Monday, July 12th event at Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success, NY. “It’s an amazing course and always a good time, and the big picture is about helping others to enjoy quality of life” says Banks.

Check out the advancements JDRF has made since 1971 in this History of Progress video. An incredible twist when you think two Moms started it to assist their sons and now two sons at Lloyd share in a cause that pays tribute to their Mom and the support of others with T1D.
Please consider joining us in this great day of golf, business networking and altruism. We hope to see you on the course!
JDRF is the only global diabetes foundation with a strategic plan to end type 1 diabetes (T1D.) As many as 3 million Americans have type 1 diabetes. Approximately 15,000 children and 15,000 adults are diagnosed each year. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
