The Importance of an Active Candidate Pipeline

Banfi Vintners is one of the nation’s pre-eminent names in fine imported wines. It is a 92-year old company headquartered in Old Brookville, NY and is in third generation ownership with the Mariani family.

Recently, Banfi challenged LLoyd to fill a critical opening for a Temp-to-Hire Production Manager – identifying an appropriately skilled candidate quickly and to get him or her into the interview cycle without delay.

Helaine Friedman-Bocker, CSP and Executive Director of LLoydCreative responded to the challenge. She listened carefully to Banfi’s specifications and immediately reviewed the division’s candidate pipeline and database. LLoydCreative specializes in the placement of Creative professionals within areas such as Digital Arts/Services, Media, Design, Writing, Web and more. Typical searches include Graphic Designers, Creative Directors, Social Media Managers and Marketing gurus – the division handles both direct hire opportunities and freelance/consulting engagements. Friedman-Bocker referred our candidate to the Banfi Hiring Manager, who also happened to be familiar with his work and the candidate himself, but had lost touch with the individual over time. The networking, communications and interviewing all happened with a 48-hour span and our candidate was made an offer by Banfi – which was changed to a full time position, rather than temp-to-hire.

Friedman-Bocker says, “It’s who you know that makes all the difference. When I heard the job description, I thought of this candidate immediately. I knew where he was and what he was doing and was able to make a quick connection.” Each LLoyd specialty area maintains a candidate pipeline. LLoyd’s total database of candidates is 40,000++ strong. We constantly update and purge resumes, staying in touch with those we know are actively seeking new positions and building new relationships with the more passive candidate who may be open to considering the “right” opportunity when it becomes available.
