LLoyd’s 2018 Staffing Associates of the Year (Part 2 of 3)

As 2018 draws to a close, we want to thank all of our Associates for their commitment to being LLoydEmployed. Your efforts at are client companies have helped to establish LLoyd’s high level of service excellence. This year we named three “Associates of the Year” who were selected by their Talent Community based on work ethic, performance and client feedback. These are individuals who worked for us in a temporary or consulting capacity during the 2018 calendar year.

FIRST A WORD ABOUT “TEMPING” OR CONTINGENT TALENT
Temporary positions cross all industry sectors and professions, and the majority are actually full-time. These jobs also can lead to permanent work, according to the American Staffing Association (ASA). In fact, permanent employment is a top motivation for choosing temporary work, and one in five Associates cite scheduling flexibility as a key reason for choosing to temp or do consulting work, according to the ASA Staffing Employee Survey.

Here are some LLoyd Staffing metrics for LLOYD’S temporary workforce:

  • 49% of new associates are referrals
  • More than 1,000 associates have been “LLoydEmployed” 2 years or longer
  • 26% of our assignments transition temp-to-hire
  • Over 15% of assignments are extended due to superior associate performance

Three Associates are chosen annually for these Talent Communities:  NY/LI Metro, IT/National and FL/LLoydSouth. Congratulations to our three winning Associates who each received a Certificate of Honor, a silver LLoyd logo pin and a Visa Gift card, along with our full appreciation for being “LLoydEmployed.”

Look for one of our winners to be profiled throughout the week.  We will be highlighting their stories individually in the LLoyd blog.  We are proud to partner with employers nationwide on their talent strategies and we thank those who contributed their thoughts and recommendations for our selection of the 2018 Honorees.

LLoyd South Florida Honoree:
Angelica Afanador, OTC Mail Sorter
Hollywood, Florida

Angelica Afanador was born and raised in New York and lived there until the age of 12 when her parents decided to move their family back to Puerto Rico. Angelica remained, in Puerto Rico graduated high school, married and had two children.

In 2017, Hurricane Maria hit the region and Angelica and her family lost everything including her house, car, possessions, even her wardrobe. Her family was forced to flee to find some relief. Fortunately, her husband had friends in Florida who helped the family get settled in their new surroundings.

Within a week of her arrival, Angelica was referred to LLoyd Staffing in South Florida and we offered her a part-time temporary assignment at Humana. Although she needed much more in terms of financial support, she accepted the position with confidence and told us she would make us proud – and she wasn’t wrong!

Angelica’s onsite client manager at Humana, Israel Garcia, CPhT-RPhT, Supervisor Mail-Order/OTC Pharmacy tells us, “Angelica came in with the attitude to learn and work hard, even if it was just 4 hours a day at first. Within two weeks on assignment she was given full time hours.”

As a temporary associate of LLoyd Staffing South since February 2018, Angelica has never called in sick or been late – not even once. During crunch time, she worked 50 hours a week for 3 straight weeks. Today, she is still on this temporary assignment at Humana, displaying the same work ethic, enthusiasm and appreciation as when she first walked in the door.

Angelica has been through a rough time adjusting after the tragic events of Hurricane Maria, but it has never impacted her work ethic. We believe she is proof that tenacity and positivity cannot hold you back when you choose to move forward.
