It doesn’t matter if you work in a Fortune 500 company or a “Mom and Pop” operation, when you thank or unexpectedly recognize employees and coworkers, it is very validating and can be a huge morale boost to the workforce and your strongest tool for employee engagement.
When I first started my career, I was a Graphic Designer. In the early 1990’s. I owned and operated my own “shop” and I serviced clients in the areas of consumer products, landscaping services and small businesses.
Just as some people are stunned when they suddenly hear a parent’s voice coming from their body, so too was I when I realized a few days ago that I had become my mentor.
Today, many employers find themselves with a member of the military on staff. These Reserve soldiers may be members of the National Guard or Reserve forces from any branch of the military – in fact, they comprise approximately 48% of America’s available soldiers.
When I was a kid I dreaded Labor Day because it meant summer was over and the first day of school was just two days away. As an adult, I kind of like it. It represents a day off from work and it still means that school is just two days away. (Sorry, kids.)
